About the role
- Senior Cloud Engineer collaborating with various teams to deliver scalable, compliant cloud solutions for Services Australia. Responsible for designing and optimizing cloud environments with security and regulatory alignment.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy greenfield and brownfield cloud platforms in either Azure or AWS
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep (Azure), or CloudFormation (AWS)
- Configure and manage core services, ensuring secure-by-design principles
- Establish robust networking components with focus on secure connectivity
- Develop and enforce governance frameworks to align with Australian government standards
- Integrate secure-by-design practices throughout the lifecycle
- Provide technical guidance, documentation, and training to teams on best practices
- Document, present and discuss implementation options and recommendations
- Drive innovation and lead change
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in Azure/AWS
- Expertise in greenfield/brownfield setups
- Knowledge of IaC and secure-by-design principles
- Skilled in networking, governance, and security (RBAC/IAM, guardrails)
- Proficiency in hybrid connectivity and DevOps (CI/CD, scripting)
- Strong knowledge of Australian government cloud compliance, data sovereignty, and privacy laws
- Proven ability to deliver scalable, secure solutions aligned with regulatory requirements
- Certifications such as AZ-104/AZ-305 (Azure) or AWS SysOps/CloudOps highly desirable
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Professional presentation skills

- Working from home arrangements will be considered following an initial requirement of the contractor being in the office for the first 2 weeks of the engagement
- Length of contract: Up to 12 Months depending on the start date
- Contract extensions: Up to a maximum of 24 months
- Security clearance: Must have a current Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance
