About the role
- Analyst in corporate and investment banking at BBVA's Industry Coverage team. Supporting senior bankers with client engagement and transaction execution in dynamic sectors.
Responsibilities
- Business origination: Develop and prepare pitch materials, client presentations, and industry analysis to support senior bankers in new business origination
- Conduct company valuations using methodologies such as DCF, trading multiples, and precedent transactions
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support strategic recommendations
- Perform sector research, benchmarking, and peer comparisons to generate insights that inform strategic recommendations
- Transaction execution: Assist in the execution of live transactions across different solutions (M&A, financing, and capital markets) alongside product teams
- Contribute to internal approval processes, including preparation of materials for risk committees and transaction reviews
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met under tight deadlines
- Management support: Help manage client relationships through follow-up tracking, targeting exercises, and preparation of tailored insights
- Maintain client pipelines, internal databases, and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)
- Support internal committees with the preparation of business, client coverage plans, and sector strategy materials
- Monitor industry newsflow, earnings announcements, and macroeconomic developments, preparing concise digests for bankers
Requirements
- Strong academic background (Finance, Business, Engineering, or related fields)
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in investment banking and corporate finance
- Strong technical foundation, with proficiency in valuation techniques, Excel and PowerPoint, financial databases (e.g. Bloomberg, Capital IQ); financial modelling skills are an advantage
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly
- Highly motivated, proactive, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international environment
- Fluency in English; other European languages are a plus
