About the role
- Back End Engineer providing expert technical support for manufacturing equipment in aluminum packaging. Focused on process improvements and maintenance standardization across the EMEA region.
Responsibilities
- Providing engineering support for Back End production equipment installations, audits, and process problem-solving
- Supporting capital projects, process efficiency improvements, and spoilage reduction initiatives
- Driving standardization of maintenance practices and operational excellence across Ball plants
- Ensuring plants are up-to-date on latest process technologies and best practices
- Preparing detailed site visit reports, documenting findings, actions and technical recommendations
- Working closely with equipment suppliers and OEMs to resolve technical challenges and support upgrades
- Developing strong working relationships with Plant Engineers, Operations leadership, and Global Engineering teams
- Supporting and delivering technical training to plant personnel
- Leading small plant-based projects and contributing to continuous improvement programs
- Identifying and resolving root causes of repair and maintenance cost overruns
Requirements
- Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds / equivalent minimum)
- Solid experience working with Back End processes in a 2-piece beverage can plant (Decorators, Inside Sprays, Neckers, Palletisers)
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on engineering capability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse global teams
- Strong MS Office skills and ability to prepare structured technical reports
- Self-motivated, highly organised, and able to work independently with extensive travel
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to influence and build effective working relationships
- Fluency in English; another European language is an advantage.
