Smarsh seeks a Platform Engineer I to design AWS cloud infrastructure for digital communications risk management. Collaborate with teams on infrastructure and customer onboarding efforts.
About the role
- AWS Senior Platform Engineer at Appvia designing and operating secure, scalable AWS platforms. Working hands-on to enable teams and improve delivery pipelines within a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate AWS-based platform components aligned to best practices
- Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, supporting faster and safer delivery
- Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS
- Work closely with application teams to enable cloud-native patterns and platform adoption
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to improve operational visibility
- Create reusable templates, modules, and deployment patterns
- Contribute to continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability, and security
- Support onboarding of new workloads and teams onto shared cloud platforms
- Share knowledge through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring
Requirements
- Strong AWS engineer with a background in cloud-native infrastructure and DevOps
- Hands-on experience building and operating AWS platforms
- A solid understanding of modern CI/CD and automation practices
- Confidence collaborating with engineers, architects, and delivery leads
- A pragmatic approach to improving reliability, security, and developer experience
- Certification in relevant cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) at an associate level is highly desirable, e.g.: AWS Certified: Solutions Architect Associate
- Certification in Kubernetes and Terraform administration is desirable: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Terraform Associate
