Lead Data Science initiatives within Just a Little Data. Oversee technical direction and team collaboration for data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead the Data Science function, setting technical direction, prioritizing requests and establishing development best practices;
Work closely with Business Analytics and other data teams to ensure technical alignment, integrate solutions and advance the company’s analytical maturity;
Serve as a technical reference across different Data Science approaches, supporting the team in choosing methods, modeling and solution architectures;
Structure, evolve and maintain internal libraries and tools used by the Data Science team;
Actively participate in the creation of technical proposals for new clients, translating business problems into analytical solutions and data models;
Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication about scope, risks, timelines and technical limitations;
Foster a collaborative environment, supporting the team’s technical development and encouraging knowledge sharing and autonomy;
Contribute to team well-being by supporting members with day-to-day technical and organizational challenges;
Support the structuring of processes, documentation and standardization of Data Science deliverables;
Work hands-on in strategic or critical projects, providing technical support to the team during high-complexity tasks or tight deadlines;
Assess technical feasibility, risks and schedule impacts, clearly communicating limitations and trade-offs to stakeholders;
Mediate between business expectations and the team’s technical capacity, balancing quality, timelines and sustainability of deliveries.
Requirements
Solid experience in technical leadership or coordination of Data Science teams;
Practical knowledge across multiple Data Science areas, including:
Time series models
Computer vision
Graphs and complex relational modeling
Parallel and/or distributed programming
Multimodal models
Fundamentals of NLP and natural language processing
Clustering and segmentation models
Attribution models such as Markov chains
Experience developing, organizing and maintaining internal data libraries or frameworks;
Experience preparing technical proposals and defining analytical solutions for clients or business areas;
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences;
Experience working with multiple stakeholders and areas with different levels of analytical maturity;
Familiarity with growing data environments or environments undergoing process structuring;
Prior experience acting both as a technical leader and hands-on executor, able to switch between strategic oversight and practical implementation;
Skill in managing stakeholder expectations, negotiating scope, timelines and priorities transparently;
Strong sense of ownership for the team’s deliverables, with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and risk mitigation.
