About the role
- Principal Data Engineer developing AI and Big Data platforms at Alexander Thamm GmbH. Handling data pipelines, operationalizing models, and leading engineering projects within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Big Data / Analytics / AI platforms
- Develop and scale data pipelines on cloud architectures
- Operationalize statistical and AI models
- Advise clients on and select technology stacks
- Take a leading role in client communication
- Build Data Engineering expertise within the company through training and projects
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or another mathematical/scientific field, or equivalent qualification
- Strong communication skills (fluent) in German and English, and willingness to travel
- At least 6 years of full-time professional experience as a Data Engineer
- At least 5 years of practical experience with common programming languages such as Python, Scala, SQL
- At least 4 years of experience with Big Data technologies, especially Spark / Kafka
- At least 4 years of experience with cloud components (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Experience with at least one of the following technologies: Databricks / Snowflake / AWS SageMaker / Azure Synapse
- Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar, as well as CI/CD processes and tools
- Nice to have: experience with UNIX systems and network configuration
