Data Science Director overseeing a team to provide data solutions at adjoe, a mobile ad platform in Hamburg. Focus on technical leadership and hands-on data science tasks.
Responsibilities
Grow and manage a data science team (hire, organize routines, set up guidelines).
Understand business goals to provide suitable data solutions.
Provide technical leadership by mentoring team members in advanced modeling and neural networks.
Be hands-on with data science tasks (at least 50% time).
Own critical data science procedures (experiments, implementation details).
Align with product and Cloud Infrastructure teams on priorities and best practices.
Contribute to strategic planning, long-term roadmap, and quarterly OKRs.
Requirements
5+ years of professional experience in data science.
2+ years’ of experience working as a Lead (mentoring, hiring, doing regular 1-1s, creating career plans).
Track record of architecting and deploying machine learning solutions, with strong expertise in recommender systems and neural networks.
Strong knowledge of Python for Data Science.
Experience drilling into large amounts of data coming from various sources – including AWS Athena, Kafka, Spark, Flink, S3, MySQL.
Ability to dive deep into mathematical foundations and explain complex topics in a simple way.
Excellent cross-team communicator.
Plus: experience in building an MLOps tech stack (e.g. Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Flink).
